Danielle Lacourse won the title of Miss Rhode Island USA 2007 in the state pageant held at Rhode Island College on September 24, 2006. The pageant had 48 women who all brought their unique qualities to the pageant. This was Danielle’s first entry into any pageant.
Danielle was born on March 5, 1986 in Rhode Island, lived her preteen years in Scituate and now calls North Providence her home. She is a proud graduate of St. Mary Academy - Bay View, which she cites as an invaluable source of her moral development. She is currently in her junior year at Rhode Island College where she is enrolled in the nursing program. She has maintained a GPA of 3.7. Her aspiration is to work as a nurse with newborn children at the Women & Infant’s Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island. She hopes to follow the footsteps of her mother, who is also a nurse, with the added twist of specializing as a nurse anesthetist.
Danielle has a diverse set of interests. She has been a cheerleader, a trained dancer, participated in her high school swim team and was a member of Peer Ministry. She enjoys fresh water fishing where she has no hesitation to bait her own hook or remove the catch of the day. Danielle enjoys all types of cardio fitness and works out with a personal trainer on a regular schedule. She recognizes the importance of health in a successful lifestyle. Danielle’s first love is caring for her extended family - five cats - each adopted from local shelters.
Danielle recognizes the benefits of a disciplined lifestyle. She has served as a volunteer at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital in North Providence, as a Page at the Rhode Island House of Representatives, and since the age of16, she has worked in a downtown Providence law firm. She is proud to be a food server at the well-known Andrea’s Restaurant in Providence which she recognizes as an invaluable source to develop interpersonal skills.
Danielle has benefited from strong family support and moral leadership. The importance of personal accountability was always stressed to her during her childhood. Understanding that for every decision comes the burden of accepting the ensuing consequences, Danielle has made this simple lesson a part of her foundation for life. Although she continues to evolve in her development, she practices the importance of treating others no differently than she would like to be treated if roles were reversed. In addition to seeking the national title, Danielle’s goal for this year is to understand the life lesson that wisdom comes with life experiences. She intends to tap invaluable resources, and ask important questions of others she meets such as “What are the most important considerations you have learned from life?”.
Danielle will go on to represent Rhode Island at the 2007 Miss USA pageant, which airs LIVE on March 23, 2007 from the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles, CA! In 2006, Leann Tingley brought everyone to the edge of their chairs when she came close to the crown. Danielle hopes that in 2007 she will bring the crown home to Rhode Island!
