About Elaine...
Elaine Collado, 18, is a freshman at the University of Rhode Island, located in Kingston. She is the daughter of Ester Cordero and Luis Collado and has a younger brother, Anderson.
Born and raised in Rhode Island’s capital city, Providence, Ms. Collado has spent countless hours giving back to her community and beyond. She cites coaching the Gilbert Stuart Middle School cheerleading team to their division championship as one of her proudest achievements and hopes to continue being a positive role model and mentor to young girls chasing their dreams with her new title of Miss Rhode Island Teen USA. Ms. Collado’s philanthropy stretches beyond Rhode Island’s borders, across the ocean, into Liberia. An active member of the Providence Church of Christ’s youth group, she has helped raise funds to build the “Love Lights the Way” home for orphans in Liberia. Her dream is to one day visit “Love Lights the Way” to see the orphanage and spend time with the children that call it their home.
Already bilingual, speaking English and Spanish, Ms. Collado would like to travel to Japan in the future to practice the Japanese she learned in language courses through the Rhode Island College Upward Bound Program. She achieved high marks all throughout her high school years. She has always placed high value in furthering her education and expanding her horizons.
Using her gymnastics skills, Ms. Collado tumbled and twirled her way into the Caption position on the Central High School’s Varsity Cheerleading team. She can proudly say that her amazing baking abilities ensured that her squad had enough cupcakes and cookies to fuel them to cheer their basketball team to victory!
Ms. Collado is elated to be this year’s Miss Rhode Island Teen USA. She plans on seizing every opportunity to be the best titleholder she can be and represent the Ocean State well at the 2013 Miss Teen USA pageant this summer.
