Tiondra
Martinez is 16 years old, a junior at Woonsocket High School
and attends the Woonsocket Area Career Technical Center. Tiondra
was crowned the new Miss Rhode Island Teen USA on September 23,
2007 at The Auditorium in Roberts Hall on the Rhode Island College
campus. She is also a member of the Pokanoket Wampanoag Indian
Tribe and Federation.
Tiondra
lived in Springfield, MA for five years. She attended the Chestnut
Accelerated Middle School and the School of Science and Technology
where she was on the honor roll. She had received awards in language
arts for creative writing, reading, cheerleading, and ballet.
In the winter of 2001 she went on a hiking trip with her
peers and learned survival techniques. It was a valuable experience
that taught her the skills to survive not only in the wild but
under extreme conditions as well. She has also had the opportunity
to travel to Cancun, MX and Puerto Rico to experience the traditions
and customs of these two cultures.
Tiondra
is presently active in tribal activities and enjoys her native
american dancing as well as spending time at Rhode Island's beautiful
shoreline. She is currently enrolled in the Health Occupations
course at the Woonsocket Area Career and Technical Center where
she learns emergency care, vital signs, first aid and CPR.
In addition to her training she will also participate in an internship
at area hospitals to prepare her for a career in the medical
field. In her spare time, when her busy schedule permits, she
enjoys reading novels and shopping in the mall.
Tiondra
has the love and support of her wonderful family and friends.
Her ambition is to become a well known and highly respected veterinarian,
animal welfare activist, and travel the world. Tiondra has the
love and support of her wonderful family and friends and hopes
to make Rhode Island proud by bringing home the Miss Teen USA
crown in 2008. |
